Aptitude Test : --1hr 20 Minutes -- 35 questions

Technical questions and HR questions were asked by d same guy.I greeted him and so did he. After looking at my CV.
Interviewer : So you hav learned many things. You hav learned C, u hav learnd PL/SQL n SQL, HTML.

me: Actually they all were in my curriculum and i hav done a website project so i hav gone thrpugh HTML and JSP also.

Interviewer : ok. so in which subject you are comfortable with ?
(Before i cud reply he asked again)
Interviewer : ok let me ask you some questions on RDBMS and sql.
me : ofcourse sir.

Interviewer : What is a database ?
me : answered
Interviewer: ok, good.

Interviewer : what is a VIEW ?
me : answered.
Interviewer : so does a view acquire any space in memory ?
me : no sir.

Interviewer : Can we fire an INSERT quesry on VIEW ?
me : Yes, sir.
Interviewer : Then u mean dat if we insert a row in view, it will change the original table ?
me : (i got confused dere) n i said : i think we cant sir.

Interviewer : ok, these things are not xpected frm you to try, these are our things to try. Don worry abt dat. Just try dis at ur home.
(when i tried at home i got the answer dat we can fir an insert statement on VIEW and the change will get reflected in the original table.)
me : i think i am missing something, sir.

Interviewer : its ok. Tell me what is d difference between INNER JOIN and OUTER JOIN ?
me: answered.

Interviewer : ok tell me two example of RDBMS ?
Interviewer : oh, one is ORACLE , i know dat tell me d oder one.
me : MS Access.

Interviewer : Good
Interviewer : I executed an INSERT statement on a table and now when i fire a SELECT statement on that table i don get to see dat newly inserted row. What might be the probable reason ?
Me : I didnt COMMIT
Interviewer: Very good.
Interviewer : how do u count the number of rows in a table ?
me : answred

Interviewer : What is a relation ?
me : answered

Interviewer : What is the difference between RDBMS and Hierarchical database ?
me: (i wasnt sure abt certain thing of Hierarchical part so i said ) I can xplain the RDBMS sir.

Interviewer : its ok, its ok. (dis guy was really gud.)
Interviewer : OK, now write a program to swap two variable by using pointers and without using 3rd variable ?
Me : I did.

Interviewer : good


(now dat same guy started askin me some some HR questions)

Interviewer : How gud are u with logics ?
me : depends upon the question, sir.

Interviewer : there are 3 switches outside a room and the room is locked. Room has got a bulb inside the room and you hav got only one chance to enter the room to see weder d bulb is on or not to find the correct switch as u cant see anything frm outside d room. Now find out the correct switch.

Me : cudnt do at dat time(but it got solvd once i steppd out of the corridor :( ...)

Interviewer : ok, i will give you 10 secs to read 5 lines and you hav to find out the number of "F's" in those without using fingers.
Me : i did widin 3 secs(may be he was judging eye cordination)

Interviewer : What r ur string points and weekness ?
me : answered(don cram or prepare answers of dis question. i mean u knw what is ur strong point n ur weekness, atleast. SO be honest in front of him/her and answer. i never did cram any prepare statement for all dis. i just replied what i knew. Just be honest )

Interviewer : Then he started askin abt my elder sister's xperience in CHENNAI at TCS as she was placed last year...

dats it.
Interviewer : So Mr, Keshav i am ok wid all ur answers and its upon you to decide weder u wanna work wid TCS or not ?
me : ofcourse sir, i want to.
Interviewer: (smiless again) Great den. U may leave.
me : thank you sir.

dey luk for ur basic skills and hav complete knowledge abt ur projects and subjects and languages u write in CV. n ofcourse hav a good communication skill. Dat is very necessary.
