First round: It was written paper containing 25 questions in 1 hr. based on aptitude,
c-c++,perl, network etc. gud ques like a painted qube cutting in equal parts...one que
was that 1 to 31 nos. select any 6 nos havin diff. of greater then 1 in b/n an 2 nos.how many no of ways? Level of d paper was gud.
Second round: 20 shortlisted after round-1. It was a programming round on computers.
3 ques were there do any 2 with 1 compulsory. In 2 hrs. one compulsory ques was
write a program to know that these services are running on system or not. HTTP, ssh, smtp.
another ques was based on head n tail cmd combinations and reading lins from a file with
cmd line args. using any language but better if u know scripting. I am gud in c-c++ but
used shell scripting. It will b esay 4 u if had spent lot of time on linux/unix.
Third Round: 7 were short listed 4 tech interview mainly base on sys admin, unix, scripting,
cmds, dbms (sql), php etc. I know only c-c++ but i hav worked on linux n shell scripting.
Ques were like how to create temporary file, sm simple cmds, what is #! in scripting.
It look like comment but actually, why? How many args can be passed on cmd line n how to
know them. ans was based on shift cmd.
How to create a file S.T. it will run automatically when system boots.How to debug a script.
Fourth round: 5 were interviewed. This was d best rnd 4 me. asked me abt projects, sys admin
work, DNS. Wat will u do when u r informed on phone wn u r sleeping at mid-night that
system has shut down. Ans based on tech+non tech. D rnd has sub part. He was firing some
cmd one by one n i had to give ans in one line immidiately. After end of d round he loughed
a moment coz speed of answering was faster then speed of questioning. He was impressed
wid me.
suggestion: Be calm, dnt get excited if u know everything or dnt know. Think n then reply.
compete wid ur self not with toppers if u r a topper or not. I m an avg stdnt wid GPA 7.85.

i want to know that if big companies like yahoo,microsoft,amazon...allows ECE branch student? actually i'm a passionate programmer and good in algorithms and c but cgpa is 7.00 only,can i expect to get selected in these companies?

CpjJwWHV Hi Indra, I have seen most of these companies hire people from CSE. But if you are really interested then you should show your accomplishments, you should have very good academic record and at least 3-4 yrs of IT working exp with good record. If you are in college then placement is the best way.
